We contacted RetailPlus and started all the staff on the Underage Sales Prevention workbook immediately. Our employees have taken to it really well and are now completely involved in helping to keep the store trading properly. It’s been a real team effort. The activities in the workbook got them thinking, talking to each other and coming up with some great solutions. They are definitely more confident in their job. We’re now creating procedures based on the workbook to address the way we want to react to angry and intoxicated customers, and many other situations. They are looking forward to receiving their Certificates and we’ve already marked out a wall space to hang all the certificates. We’re calling it our ‘Wall of Pride’. As an Owner Manager you can’t do everything and be there all the time. What I’ve noticed with RetailPlus is that my staff can now take the initiative and do a lot more. Obviously, I’m always going to be involved and check things, but it’s like I’ve suddenly discovered by investing in training I’ve unlocked the potential of my staff. It’s also a great way to give something back to my staff and help them achieve a national qualification, for some, perhaps their very first.
